Bluegrass IMA Members,
I have truly enjoyed my first year as President of the Bluegrass Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). I appreciate the support that I have received from the board and general members. Your kindness is appreciated. The general meetings for the 2016-2017 year have been very interesting and enjoyable.
The final event of 2017 is in the current month. I received a suggestion from the survey conducted in the summer of 2016 to host an event in which family members could participate. Family Night is scheduled for Friday, April 28th at a Lexington Legends game. The minimum required attendance is 25 people and the deadline to register on our website is April 10th. The charge is $30 for adults and $15 for children. On the registration page, select adult and/or children ticket selections on the PayPal storefront. We encourage members to pay during the registration process. The group tour will begin at 5:30pm (at least 1 CPE credit). First pitch will be at 7:05. If there’s rain, the tour and buffet dinner will take place.
The board members and I are seeking two more volunteers to join the Bluegrass Chapter IMA leadership team. Please volunteer to serve on either the Membership or Student Night Committee. The 2017-2018 slate of officers is as follows:
President: Dr. Cassandra Smith
VP, Membership: Cathy Buckman
VP, Communication: Nikki Hargrove
Treasurer: Deanna Ramsey
Secretary: Dean Jacobson
The board members and I are concerned about the low turnout at meetings. The possibility of having meetings at another location instead of the Doubletree was discussed. I visited Jimmy Johns and asked the manager about the possibility of hosting the September 2017, November 2017, and January 2018 general meetings on Thursdays from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Space is available to host the three meetings at Jimmy Johns. Requesting a buffet style meal would possibly accommodate our needs. The board and I will answer all of your questions at the Family Night event.
Please consider joining the Bluegrass Chapter IMA leadership team. The additional leadership support would enhance the 2017-2018 year. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to email anyone on the board. I look forward to a fun and educational Family Night.
Dr. Cassandra Smith
Bluegrass IMA President
